Butterfly Token: The Token of Distinction & Honorary Awards

In this article, I’ve gathered some thoughts on what I personally think makes up a great professional work experience and what motivates me to vote yes for a Life Science & Healthcare professionals to receive one of our Token of Distinction & Honorary Awards. In a way, it’s gamifying our job and turning it into a friendly competition. Fun!

Election to Membership / Fellowship of the Trade Pharma Network (TPN) via the distinction or honorary routes is the TPN’s way of recognizing those who have made a significant contribution to one or more of the following areas/sectors:

• to Pharma & Biotech (Life Science) ;
• to core Healthcare and raising the profile of this sector ;
• to TPN itself and to its work.

The Honorary & Distinction Grades of Membership & Fellowship

There are 3 categories of Distinction & Honorary Membership / Fellowship available:

Honorary Fellowship ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Honorary Fellowship is the highest level of TPN membership possible. Only 15 Honorary Fellowships will be awarded each year. Proposals should reflect this by putting forward nominations of only the highest achievements in terms of improvement of the health of the public. Honorary Fellows will have made an outstanding contribution in the practice of Life Science, Healthcare and/or contributing to the remit & mission of the TPN.

Honorary Membership ⭐️⭐️

Honorary Membership is TPN’s way of honouring those people who do not work in Life Science nor in Healthcare. Only 20 Honorary Memberships will be awarded each year. They are people not eligible for any other category of membership of TPN, but who have also made a significant contribution to Life Science, to the practice of Healthcare and/or have rendered a major service to TPN.

Membership by Distinction ⭐️

Membership by Distinction (MbD) is aimed at individuals who work in Life Science or core Healthcare posts, and who have demonstrated the appropriate level of competence for the country that they work or trained in. As a general rule, MbD is normally for people who work at or beyond Masters degree level in science, policy or research. Those who have made a contribution to public health from the wider Life Science or Healthcare workforce, or from a lay background hold our attention for the aforementioned Honorary Membership.

Working together to improve Life Science & Healthcare

Honorary Members do not need to have worked in Life Science or core Healthcare and may not have had the corresponding professional background. A Honorary Fellow, also may or may not have worked previously in Life Science or Healthcare. And the difference between distinction and honorary membership is that holders of MbD will normally work within Life Science and core Healthcare, whether in the EU or overseas.

Butterfly Token: The Trade Pharma Network’s Token Award

Butterfly Token is non-fungible & indivisible fun token with de minimis value (no cash equivalent or redeemable value). It is a Trade Pharma Network Blockchain-based Token Award that recognizes excellence in the industry. Honorary & Distinction members will receive one of our Blockchain/crypto-based Token Awards as follows:

• 3 Butterfly Tokens (BUTY) for each Honorary Fellow ;
• 2 Butterfly Tokens (BUTY) for each Honorary Member ;
• 1 Butterfly Token (BUTY) for each Distinction Member.

To make this possible, Honorary & Distinction recipients must have a Metamask Ethereum wallet installed on their desktop (Metamask Extension on Google Chrome or Firefox) and/or mobile phone (iOS or Android).

Once installed, the Butterfly Token (BUTY) can easily be added to the wallet using the following smart contract address:

The bottom line is that Distinction Members andHonorary Fellows & Members are elected by TPN’s Founders & Executive team.

However, there is no restriction against peer-nominations or self-nominations. Indeed, potential Distinction & Honorary Members may be nominated by their peers or simply self-nominated after which they are selected for their achievements, leadership and innovation. Either way, a dedicated nomination form should be duly filled in order to describe their contributions to Life Science, Healthcare and/or contributions / potential contributions to the work of TPN.
